Chopta Valley

One of the most beautiful, pristine lakes in Sikkim, Gurudongmar lake sits in close proximity to the Tibetan and Chinese border in the north. Nested amidst the mountains at 5,183 meters, the freezing alpine lake is amongst the major sources of the river Teesta. The lake takes its name after the eminent guru Padmasambhava, who is believed to have traversed this region during his visit to Tibet.

Kalapathar

Tourists can visit Kalapathar on their way back from Gurudongmar Lake. It is above Chopta Valley in Lachen. The place is fully covered with snow and the drive to this place is really beautiful. The roads are not good but it's worth going. During winters, guests will be able to find snow at KalaPathar. It will be freezing cold and you get snow boots and gloves on rent at the place.

Gurudongmar Lake

Set at an altitude of 17,800 ft, Gurudongmar Lake is a high altitude Himalayan lake which is scenic and peaceful. Hemmed in by snow-covered mountains, this lake remains frozen during the winter season and during summers, the lake water reflects the sky and clouds like a mirror.

Lachung is a small town that shines like a morning star at an elevation of 9,610 ft. in North Sikkim. Lachung is situated at a distance of 103 KM from Gangtok and throughout your drive from Gangtok, the meandering river Teesta will accompany you alongside. It would be a mistake to visit the hamlet of Lachung but missing on a tour to the famous Zero point and Lachung monastery.
